K Street Passageway activation Project

Welcome to the K Street Passageway Activation Project website. This site has all the information needed to know about the innovative installation and lighting system that will be integrated into the K Street pedestrian passageway.

About the Project

The Liberal Arts and Engineering Studies program at Cal Poly is working with the Old Sacramento District to redesign the K Street pedestrian passageway that connects historical Sacramento with modern Sacramento. The goal of the project is to create a new, inviting space for visitors and locals that fills the passageway with interactive light and art displays celebrating the history and culture of Sacramento. The passageway will also provide a continually changing venue for engaging, family-friendly artworks connected to community festivals, fairs and markets. The tunnel is not a passageway, rather it is a destination.

Donate!

The initial donations will support the Cal Poly's Architecture, Computer Science, and LAES programs to continue to lead the work for this project.

The core team is involved in all

aspects of the project. Overall, the work accomplished by Cal Poly's team is innovative work and more collaborative than outsourcing the work to contractors.
