Meet the Teams

Core Team

The core team are the managers and advisors of the project. The ideas presented stem from the work put forth by the core team.

David gillette

Cal Poly LAES Professor

Dr. David Gillette is the Director of the Liberal Arts & Engineering Studies program, a hybrid, interdisciplinary Bachelor of Arts program that combines, in equal portions, upper-level courses from the college of engineering and the college of liberal arts at Cal Poly. He has over twenty years of experience in interdisciplinary team leadership and development.

Thomas Fowler

Cal Poly Architecture Professor

Professor Thomas Fowler is the Director of Graduate Architecture Program and the award-winning Community Interdisciplinary Design Studio (CIDS). Fowler teaches in the building design studios of both the Bachelor of Architecture and the Master of Science in Architecture programs. He has over twenty years of experience in interdisciplinary team leadership, development and    building design.

Brooksie Hughes

Old Sacramento District Director, Downtown Sacramento Partnership

Brooksie Hughes is the Old Sacramento District Director for Downtown Sacramento Partnership. She brings to her role over 25 years working as an Event Producer & Public Space Strategist.  Her current focus is on championing great ideas for historic Sacramento into reality through partnership building and strategic funding.

Abby Cybula

Project Manager

Abby Cybula is a 4th year Liberal Arts and Engineering Studies student concentrating in biomedical engineering and technical communication. She began working on the project in 2017 as a co-project manager. 

Emily Dunlap

Project Manager

Emily Dunlap is a Liberal Arts and Engineering Studies student with concentrations in technical communication and industrial engineering. Emily is co-project manager for the K Street project and was a member of the original design team. 

Ian

Curtis

Architect

Ian is a 5th year architecture student and an original member of the design team. He took a year abroad to study in Japan and Spain and has returned to the K Street Passageway Activation Project. 

Connor Church

Architect

Connor Church is a 5th year Architecture student at Cal Poly. He joined the core design team in Fall 2017.

Many outside organizations are helping the core team to make the project become a reality. We would like to recognize the organizations that are providing resources and assisting the core design team throughout the design process.

Glabe + Taylor is an architecture firm working with the Old Sacramento District to create the best installation for historic Sacramento.

Old Sacramento District brought the idea of creating a new and inviting space in the K Street pedestrian passageway. Their help is the driving force behind the K Street Passageway Activation Project.
